Florida Board of Governors Regulation 6.001 General Admission authorizes universities to refuse admission to applicants due to past misconduct. Decisions are made in the best interest of the University community. At Florida Gulf Coast University, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Graduate Admissions has been delegated the authority to clear students who have had minor criminal traffic violations and minor academic issues related to a positive response to the conduct question on the admission application.
All other positive responses to the conduct question on the admission application to any programs at FGCU, must be cleared by the Office of Student Conduct or designee. The Office of Student Conduct or designee reviews all applications disclosing information regarding any violation of the law, including but not limited to, criminal charges: including pending, no info'd, dismissed, or nolle prossed charges, convictions, criminal traffic violations.
Applicants who fail to give accurate and complete responses to the conduct question on the University application may be subject to rescindment of your application, denial of admission or readmission, as well as disciplinary action, which may include dismissal from the University if the applicant is already admitted, when the omission or misstatement is discovered.
It is required that all applicants who answer "yes" to at least one of the following questions complete the Admissions Clearance Conduct Reporting Form:
1. At any previous educational institution, have you ever been found in violation of any policy regarding academic dishonesty, cheating, plagiarism, or any act of behavioral misconduct?
2. Are you currently charged with a criminal violation of any kind, OR have you ever been charged with a criminal violation of any kind, which resulted in any form of sentence or punishment, including charges in which adjudication was withheld on any form of condition (e.g. completion of a treatment program, a period of court supervision, etc).
NOTE: Do not include current or past traffic violations in which the only outcome was (or is limited to) a fine.
