LWTech is committed to ensuring that students with faith- or conscience-based beliefs have equal opportunity to access and benefit from the college’s educational offerings and services.
LWTech students must use this form to request excused accommodations or absences for reasons of faith/spirituality or conscience or for organized activities conducted under the auspices of a religious denomination, church, or religious/spiritual organization.
Accommodation examples include but are not limited to:
- Approval to wear a head cover or faith related jewelry when otherwise prohibited by the syllabus
- Approval to break a fast during class when eating is otherwise prohibited during class by the syllabus
Absence examples include but are not limited to:
- Classes scheduled on the same day as a religious or spiritual holiday such as Yom Kippur, Eid al-Fitr, or Easter
- Classes scheduled on the same day as a significant spiritual ceremony such as a Sundance, Strawberry, or Sweat-Lodge Ceremony
- Late arrival to accommodate prayers that are time-specific
The request must be received at least two weeks in advance of the day of absence. For clinical classes, the request must be received before the first day of the quarter.
