All residential First Year students are required to maintain at minimum a 150 meal plan. The purpose of this requirement is to ensure access to healthy and robust food options, thereby promoting wellness and self-care, as well as to provide a path to important opportunities for socialization. Students who wish to change between any plans at the 150 meal level or greater should contact the Student Accounts Office directly.
Students may request a meal-plan waiver/reduction due to exceptional circumstances. The Associate Vice President in the Office of Student Affairs will work with students through an individualized assessment of a student's status to determine what adjustments are necessary. Generally, the College is able to meet a student's dietary needs through either a personalized meal plan or a meal plan reduction. Only on rare occasions will the College determine that a full meal plan waiver is necessary.
In order to apply for a meal plan change you must complete the information below, which will be forwarded to the Office of Student Affairs. In the case of requests for a meal plan waiver/reduction due to disability, health or medical concerns, students should complete the online disability accommodations request form through the Accessibility and Disability Services office.
Please note that review of applications for Fall semester occurs in August and in January for the Spring semester.
Generally changes to the meal plan selected must be made within the first week of the term. If a waiver or reduction is granted during the academic term a prorated refund of the plan will be credited to the student's account (retroactive refunds are not permitted).
All meal plan waiver/reduction requests must be documented in some manner. In the case of financial hardship, claims will include confirming the student's status with MICA's Financial Aid Office.
