Student Academic Concerns Reporting Form

The resolution process for an academic concern is to provide an impartial review of academic situations and issues for ensuring that the rights of all students are properly recognized and protected.

The Academic Concerns Resolution Policy is to be used for instances in which a student has an academic concern regarding:

• The grade received in a course;
• An academic decision impacting one's academic progression;
• Program Dismissal

No adverse action will be taken against a student who chooses to utilize this process. Non-academic complaints are handled through the College Code of Conduct policy. Sexual harassment/misconduct complaints are handled through the College's Title IX—Sexual Misconduct Policy.

Background Information

Students who choose to appeal the grade in a course or decision made by a course instructor or program coordinator/director must initiate the appeals process no later than 2 weeks from the occurrence of the concern. A student is encouraged to talk to their academic advisor or Dean of Students to clarify the steps of the resolution process.  In the event of a program dismissal, students are encouraged to reach out to an academic advisor or Dean of Students to review NMC’s Progression Policy and clarify next steps.
