Petition to Void Disciplinary Record

Policy and Procedure

Students who have been found responsible for a violation of the Standards of Conduct may petition the Center for Community Standards to remove a single disciplinary violation from their disciplinary record if it meets the following conditions:

  • Two full calendar years have lapsed since the date of the University’s final order finding that the student violated the Standards of Conduct. This applies to both current and former students.
  • The student has no other violations or reports of potential violations on record with the Center for Community Standards at the time the petition is submitted.
  • The student has fulfilled all disciplinary sanctions.

There is no significant aggravating factor, including, but not limited to the student’s conduct subsequent to the violation, the nature of the violation, and the severity of any damage, injury, or harm resulting from the violation. Disciplinary records may be voided by the Director of the Center for Community Standards upon written petition of the responsible student. Denials of petitions to void disciplinary records are not appealable.

If a student has a removed disciplinary violation, and subsequently commits another violation of the Standards of Conduct, the removed disciplinary record will be reinstated.
