WSU’s Behavioral Assessment & Intervention Team (B.A.I.T.) primary mission is to provide support and guidance for faculty, staff and administrators as “students of concern” emerge in classrooms, residence halls, student activities, performances and the greater Winona community.
B.A.I.T. recognizes that there is no magic formula to determine if someone will become violent. However, faculty and staff can assist in identifying those individuals “students of concern” so early intervention can be addressed.
What to Report
Some items to report include the following:
•Questionable or suspicious acts or behavior. (i.e. anger problems, fascination with weapons, non-compliance/disciplinary problems & violent fantasy content in writings and/or drawings)
•Knowledge of information or incidents that could cause harm.
•Knowledge of illegal actions, assaults, and/or drug or alcohol sale or usage.
•Expressions by others of feelings of depression, reduction of self-worth, and/or uselessness.
WSU has developed a web-based reporting program to assist B.A.I.T. where members of the campus community can confidentially submit information to the team regarding student care needs or a concerning pattern or marked change of student behavior.
